Fireworks for Mountbatten at Robin Hill 2025

Lighting Up the Island: A Night to Remember at Robin Hill

There is something truly magical about the Isle of Wight in the autumn. The air turns crisp, the scarves come out, and for one night only, the skies above Newport transform into a kaleidoscope of colour.

I headed down to Robin Hill Adventure Park for the annual Fireworks with Mountbatten event. If you’ve never been, imagine a giant garden party in a hidden valley, mixed with a touch of adrenaline and a whole lot of community spirit.

The Highlights:

More Than Just a Show

While the fireworks are the headliner, the heart of this event is its mission. Every ticket sold and every "glow-stick" purchased supports Mountbatten Isle of Wight, the island’s only hospice. It’s a powerful reminder that while we’re enjoying the spectacle, we’re also helping provide 24/7 care for local families.

ZipFire Adrenaline: The bravest among us took on the "ZipFire" challenge—soaring 300 meters across the night sky from a 25-meter platform while fire cannons blazed below. It’s easily the most "Island" way to fundraise!

The Atmosphere: With live sets from Isle of Wight Radio and vibrant performances by the New Carnival Company and Raw Samba, the energy was electric long before the first fuse was lit.

The Grand Finale: At 7:00 PM, the valley fell silent for a moment before erupting into a world-class fireworks display. Set against the natural backdrop of the woodland, it felt intimate and grand all at once.

On a more personal note, this event is incredibly close to my heart. I have first-hand experience of the amazing work Mountbatten does, having seen the care and dignity they provided for both my Dad and my Nan during their end-of-life journeys. The kindness and expertise the team showed our family during those final chapters is something I will never forget. It’s because of that support that I’m always happy to step up and help Mountbatten whenever I can; they provide a light for families during their darkest times, and being at Robin Hill to support them felt like a small way to say thank you.

The Verdict

From the steaming mugs of hot chocolate to the "sparkly" outfits worn by kids and adults alike, it was a night of pure joy. Robin Hill remains the perfect host for this event—its sprawling 88 acres provide plenty of room to explore the illuminated woodland before the main event.

If you missed out this year, keep your eyes peeled for 2027. Tickets usually sell out fast, and trust us—you’ll want to be there to see the sky catch fire for a great cause.
